I have been attending private lessons at the LI for almost two
years and am not sure which is more rewarding: the feeling of
finally learning the language I have always dreamed of learning,
or the experiences I have gathered along the way! I had
absolutely no previous experiences with the French language but
am now able to actively participate in conversations on
wide-ranging topics with families i visit in France. This is
more than a great tribute to the professors at LI (who manage
to make the learning process fun) but also to the knowledge they
impart on cultural, political and interpersonal aspects of the
French people. I have greatly enjoyed my learning
experience...and will continue to do so until the French people

school French, to actually conversing, conveying, and
understanding - ' En Français '. Each of the professor's I have
had, were not only native French speakers, but were also
extremely competent at teaching which helped me learn more about
the language and not just a few words to get me by'.
Activities from dinner in a French restaurant, a Beaujolais
nouveau reception, or a crepe making party, all conducted in French also
added to the fun.

“When we moved from Montreal (Quebec,
Canada) to the Bay Area 5 years ago, we were determined that our 3
year-old continue to learn French.
This was important to us because we wanted him to be able to
communicate effortlessly with family and friends, to be sufficiently
competent in French to attend school in Montreal should we return,
